Alfred Pennyworth is the kind of butler anybody would want. He has little nuggets of wisdom to share, extensive medical training the dedication it requires to assist his employer in dispensing vigilante justice without batting (ZING!) an eye.

Alfred was not always the wonderfully dedicated butler he is now. Originally Alfred served as little more than comic relief. Oh yeah, and instead of being a butler he was a portly, clean-shaven detective who somehow managed to solve cases despite all of his
boners (look at definition number 2 and get your mind out of the gutter). Eventually Alfred was recast as a retired actor and intellignece agent whose father Jarvis had made him swear to serve the Wayne family right before he died and transplanted his soul into the computer systems of Tony Stark
Transcendence style. Alfred discovered Bruce Wayne's secret identity by accident and has been serving as his aid in fighting crime ever since. Until his history was changed again, to the now familiar Alfred who has been serving the Wayne family faithfully all of Bruce's life.
